Wister Dress
Wister Dress
A study in painterly florals and sculptural proportion, this gown is crafted from ivory Mikado, hand-painted with a delicate botanical composition that moves quietly across the surface of the dress.
The floral artwork is intentionally airy rather than continuous. Soft clusters of hydrangea-like blooms appear in washed tones of powder blue, pale lilac and porcelain white, interspersed with slender leaves and softly brushed stems in muted sage and olive green. Some flowers dissolve almost into the ivory ground, while others carry deeper touches of blue and violet at their centres, giving the pattern depth without overwhelming the silhouette. The irregular spacing allows areas of untouched Mikado to remain visible, making each painted bloom feel considered and giving the artwork a natural, almost garden-gathered quality.
A structured strapless corset shapes the body before descending into an elongated basque waist, while the voluminous gathered skirt amplifies the scale of the hand-painted fabric. The lustre and body of the Mikado give the florals an unusual dimension, allowing light to move across both the painted surface and the architecture of the gown.
Finished with a corset-laced back and sweeping train, the silhouette balances traditional bridal construction with the individuality of a painted textile.
The palette was conceived to feel almost watercoloured — cool, quiet and botanical — with the green foliage grounding the blue and lilac blossoms against the warmth of the ivory base.
This dress is also available in plain porcelaine colour without the hand-painted print.
